Mendocino Eco Artists (MEA) is a group of professional artists who have come together to promote the conservation and restoration of the local environment. The members are professional painters\, sculptors and photographers who live\, work\, and draw their creative inspiration from this beautiful place.  We work as partners with environmental groups and use our art to help increase public awareness of the problems in this region and to raise funds through sale of our artwork to help them achieve their goals. Because the values and conservation efforts by the MEA were shared by recently deceased plein air artist Jim Boyer\, MEA and Flockworks proudly present a memorial exhibit of his oil landscape paintings.“Watershed Visions” is part of the 2017 Art@Oddfellows exhibit series led by Flockworks\, a local nonprofit building community through art and creativity.  Oddfellows Hall is located in Mendocino on the corner of Kasten and Ukiah Streets.  Hours will be every Thursday through Monday from 11 AM to 5:30 PM.\n \n Special events are planned for this show.  On the first weekend of the Whale Festival\, March 4\, Flockworks at Oddfellows will participate in the Chamber of Commerce’s Mendocino county wine tasting event from 1 – 4 PM. The Gala Artists’ Reception will be on the Second Saturday event\, March 11\, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.  Artist-inspired hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be offered to our guests. At 5:30 PM representatives from the Noyo Center will have a brief presentation about the organization and its plans for the future.The Noyo Center for Marine Science is already a thriving non-profit organization providing exciting educational programs for youth and the public and hands-on opportunities to do the unexpected\, like help rearticulate a giant 73 foot long blue whale skeleton.  The Center has provided summer science camps for all ages the past three summers.  Marine science education will remain the primary focus\, but its charter includes the support of education in all natural coastal resources areas.Noyo Center has a larger three-part vision:  supporting an innovative research program\, creating an integrated education program\, and building a world-class facility for research\, education and tourism.  The Noyo campus\, on the former Georgia Pacific lumber mill site\, will be a dynamic environment that showcases sustainability while supporting activities that engage the community\, the visitor and the scientist in order to inspire connection\, communication and creativity.Noyo Center’s Mission: To explore our dynamic connection to the ocean. We envision making our dramatic (and previously inaccessible) coastline available for innovative scientific research\, hands-on education and natural resource stewardship.
